Hello! First post here, excited to start interacting in this community. I was looking for a stones upgrade from my current glass stones and have been looking around for some entry level shell stones of size 30-34. I was looking at kurokigoishi but those sizes are currently sold out and I'm a little bit afraid of customs as I'm based in europe. Does anyone have any experience or knows how the Jitsuyo stones sold by Schaakengo hold up compared to the kurokigoishi ones? Is there any other reputable source for shell stones in Europe? Thank you! |

If you look at the photos of the shell stones of Japanese origin offered by most shops around the world you will see they are packaged similar to and most likely made by Kuroki. Unfortunately, no additional photos (or information) are available at https://www.schaakengo.nl/goshop-keima/ ... o-75x22-mm but you can see the boxes referenced at Go-spiele in the post from cacsh. A patient search of game stores in Germany, Netherlands, and France should give you three or four shops that have high quality go equipment available. Inventories have been reduced everywhere so be sure the items you are seeking are actually in stock and can be delivered. |

There are other go board stores (gobanten) in Japan that sell online, such as: http://www5b.biglobe.ne.jp/~goban/engli ... rsion.html https://www.miwagobanten.com/SHOP/1651/1797/list.html |

I was interested in the same size stones and I checked back for a few months and found them. I ordered size 33 "blossom" grade stones with Kusu (camphor) bowls. The price was 57,900 JPY + 7,200 JPY for shipment by boat to the US (down from usual 11,200JPY shipping costs). Boat shipment seems to be required these days. It took almost 3 months to receive the package but there were no issues with customs. Once the package reached the US it was to my doorstop that same week. They have similar bundles on offer still: http://shop.kurokigoishi.co.jp/item/3090 http://shop.kurokigoishi.co.jp/item/3087 If you want stones without a bundle, the options are more limited. But they do have size 30 as you wanted in their entry level "blue label" series for 39,000 JPY. http://shop.kurokigoishi.co.jp/item/198 |
