Polama are any of those properly Facebook specific? Or even social media specific? I mean, a guy's sexuality getting him fired isn't really a new phenomena, neither is companies caring far, far too much about people's private lives (in Ireland until "relatively" recently, even during my lifetime, you could stay working in the civil service as a married woman only until you got pregnant then you had to retire for example). Most of the issue is, loads of people revealing personal data in X format, people searching X format for said data so they can use it in some way. The Facebook specific stuff are the things like hyperpape brought up about the the site being able to track your movements online regardless of whether you logged in or not and without any kind of meaningful consent and no opt-out. |
