Post subject:  Experiences starting a new AGA chapter?

Hi everyone,

My nearest AGA chapter is more than 3 hours away.

Has anyone reading this forum been involved in the establishment of a new AGA chapter (as opposed to just a club)? I'd be grateful if you could share some thoughts on that experience as I consider embarking on this path.

Ed,

I've followed that thread with great interest from its inception. AFAIR, however, it doesn't have any content with respect to interacting with the AGA. Perhaps my original post was unclear. I'm curious about how one goes about creating an Official AGA Chapter versus just hanging out a shingle for the Townsville Go Club on Main St.

Hi Drew,

AFAIK, that part is "just" administrative work: do the 'paperwork/e-work', pay the annual fee to AGA. That's it. :) To contact them, try the website (and hopefully it has a Contact Us link), or, email the e-journal and hopefully Mr. Chris Garlock or Mr. Andy Okun will forward you to the appropriate person.
( The bulk of the difficulty is still in the other thread. :blackeye: )

Is that all there is?

An annual personal membership is $30, and a chapter membership is $30, so why shouldn't everyone just be a chapter unto themselves? :)
