Is the new AGA website still under construction?

I tried to check the crosstab of 2011 go congress. The results are always' page not found'. See the link: http://www.gocongress.org/2011

The rating system has also been changed, with less functions. Before, I can search one player with a rating range or a club name. Now, you can only search by family name or AGA number. Before, you can check one player's tournament record and his/her rating changes. Now, you only get a current rating.

Did I miss somthing? Or is this database still under construction? If the latter, I will wait and see. Thanks

The new site was obviously not ready yet, what's the point of releasing it to the public when you still have lots of 'Page Not Found' and missing links? This is QA version at best. We don't just need a fancy interface, the content rules.

While most of the text content is there, some of the sgf files are missing. Please be patient as there are hundreds floating around on the old server. Is there anything specific that you all are missing? If we knew that other than "theres a lot missing" and "this is qa at best" it would be easier to fix. Please try and be a little more specific.

It is very useful if the AGAGD is back online soon.

MANY of my bookmarked pages are simple not there any more - too many to count, most importantly, those minutes :)

Seriously, did anyone check that all the original contents are covered by the new site? Now users are being asked to find out what's missing...

I think the right approach would have been to put up the new site with a different url, ask users to try it out, then imporove, and release the new site when it IS ready.

I hope the backup tape is still there.

Thanks.

Well, the ratings page (http://www.usgo.org/ratings) is missing a lot of searching and sorting functionality that it used to have.

I don't know if anyone else has brought it up, though, or if it was actually intended to remove that functionality....

I did the new ratings page, so I can comment here.

The code behind the old ratings page was a piece of legacy code that dated back to a time when the AGA ratings and membership were run offline (on two different home computers). A direct port was not going to be viable given the changes to the AGA database architecture that runs behind the scenes, and there was a question of how much of the ratings search functionality should be offered on the new page. Getting the new system running in a timely fashion was regarded as more important, and so I made a decision to offer the current options.

There have also been a couple of comments about the AGAGD. Its removal is a separate issue, unrelated to the server migration. It will be offline for an indeterminate amount of time.

There is a search field on the front page. Type in "board minutes" and the first link is

Are there plans to replace the functionality, or should I go learn PHP? I need my fix, man...

The database being offline, are you looking for help with that too, or is this some more complicated reason it will be offline for an indeterminate period?

Both of those are questions for the webmaster (webmaster@usgo.org), but I'm sure he'd be happy with help. I'd bet he's going to be spending his time in the foreseeable future fixing all the broken links that didn't migrate properly rather than adding new functionality.

Isn't Yertle the webmaster? Anyway, I was only semi-serious. I don't think I'd have time for a PHP project this month or next. Maybe if things are still in flux in a few.

Yertle is the webmaster. If youre interested in doing some programming work I'm sure I could find something for you to work on! There are even some small-ish projects that members want in our applications if youre willing to help.
