I was really hopeful that there might be more regular updates to the client and/or server when the AGF took over ownership of KGS, but they haven't seemed to do anything with it since assuming ownership. I still play there somewhat regularly, but the recent thread about a new member trying (and failing) to start playing on KGS made me realize how poor the experience is for newcomers. Has anyone heard anything about planned development?

KGS is a dead community walking. When WMS dropped his baby, it was doomed. It will still work a couple of years and then die out, just like with Netscape. OGS or Foxxy are the up and coming online stuff with IGS/Tygem kind of in between: not dead, but not living either.

If you look here https://www.usgo.org/go-internet I would be tempted to say No

Good timing! This statement from the AGF was just posted today.

As the Vice President of the AGF, and the KGS Liaison, we have been looking for solutions for a long time. I have just written a piece for the EJ on this: https://www.usgo.org/news/2019/05/help- ... go-server/

I'm glad to see you're reaching out for help. I want to see as many successful, well-run go servers as possible!

That's nice. Although it used to be the case that people who asked to be admins on KGS were blacklisted from that role :)

Lol, perhaps that was a time when there were a great deal more users! Any admin needs to be vetted of course, but if the vetting policy is too stringent, you won't have any admins! I have had a strong response to my request for both admins and programmers, I am pleased to report, and many of them are from people who are well known and well regarded in the Go community already.

Does the AGF still need a register module for KGS?

They can probably ask all the help they can get. All you need to do is drop them note at:
