I'd like to do it. I was holding off volunteering because I've been so rubbish at making regular moves in my 1v1, but recently I've been getting more serious about go again so I think I can handle it.

If you guys want to hold out for someone more reliable that's fair enough though.

There will be 3 ( or 5 ) people to harrass you instead of one. How consistent will you be?

If you actually do harrass me I doubt there'll be a problem. Any lazyness on my part is a sign that you're being too nice to me. :blackeye:

More seriously though, I went through a phase of feeling like I had to put off making moves in correspondence games until I'd devoted enough time to find the the best move I possibly could, but now I know better and have been making moves more regularly. This combined with my renewed interest in go is enough to make me feel pretty confident I can handle another Malkovich game, but I know my track record isn't good so I completely understand if people would rather hold out for someone else.

Edit: That's starting to sound a little manipulative, so let me put it this way: I promise I'll do better so please let me play.

Sounds like we have a game? What specific rules do you all want to use for interventions?

I think the BB4 system of 5 consecutive uncorected moves = +1 correction was a good one. Maybe the exact numbers need tweaking though?

Cool. Which of you will be my little brother?

Do we need higher dan big brothers, too?

If so, maybe we could have a single bigger brother that helps with both sides.

I prefer giving prisoners. As a bigger brother, I must confess that I might tend to ignore the game if I knew that I couldn't play.

Either possible pairing is fine with me.

I'd really like that.

Seems awkward.

Yes! :D

Just one more mid (or high) dan and we're ready to go.

Anyhow, the reason that I mentioned the possibility of a single bigger brother is that I was worried that it would be tricky to find two high dan players who would like to be in the game.

So, I'm thinking that I'd like to start sometime soon. Maybe we could message known high dan players who've been active lately who may not have noticed these posts?

Or maybe we can just get started anyway.

Anyway, I'd even be ok with just the regular bigger brothers until we get a couple of high dan players or even just sharing MW for now.

I'm in no rush, but if you all want to start now, I wouldn't object either.

I'm back. Is everyone else here?

We still have uncertainties about the format: viewtopic.php?p=133966#p133966

I think a certain number of points per play makes sense. Say, 3, like in pair go? If we don't get a second big big brother, perhaps we should just go forward with 2 pairs rather than share magicwand.

I'm still up for it! But I'm completely at a loss as to how many points a correction should be worth, so whatever suits everyone is fine by me.

P.s. I agree it's probably not worth holding out for another big brother. Most of the forum regualars have probably seen this thread by now.

May I make a strange suggestions? Instead of a penalty in points, why not give each Big Brother a certain amount of time to play; perhaps 90 24-hr byo-yomi periods. Then he has to give up a byo-yomi period to correct a move, and if he runs out then his team has to finish without him.

Rationale: agonizing over corrections speeds up games instead of slowing them down, the value of a correction only needs to be weighed against the value of other corrections, there's less risk of an unsatisfying conclusion where one team has out-foxed the other on the board but owes more points for corrections.
