Looks like we've got a match setup!

We'll be doing a 3-on-3 team match, where players on the same team discuss their move and come to a consensus before playing. The time limit is one week per move. If the team fails to play a move within a week, they lose the game.

This will be a good opportunity for players of similar strength to collaborate and learn from one another.

Let's introduce the teams!

Team Capital
Kirby (KGS 1d)
TegaiS (KGS 1d)
Joaz Banbeck (AGA 1d)

vs

Team Lowercase
emeraldemon (1k)
skydyr (?)
andreyl (KGS 2d)

Without further ado, let's get started. For the purposes of this competition, since we haven't actually started the game, I'll take the liberty of declaring a number of stones for nigiri on behalf of our team, without consulting. Once we actually start on the game, let's decide all moves by first conferring with one another.

Team Lowercase, please select "Odd" or "Even" before looking at the hide tag below. If your guess is correct based on the number indicated in the hide tags, you'll be black. Otherwise, you'll be white.

163

Have fun everyone!

I'll guess even for our team.

Looks like we're white. AGA rules and standard 7.5 komi okay all around?

Those rules sound fine to me. Good luck, and have fun!

@CapitalTeam:
Looks like we're black. I propose starting on the 4-4, though, I'm open to alternatives.

@CapitalTeam
I agree with 4-4.

Open or closed books?

Works for me. Also I don't have a problem with open book, but it's up to the other players.

Post subject:  Re: Capital vs. Lowercase: Collaboration Game

Let's do closed book, so that decisions are from the team more than from books.

Also, I like the 1 week time limit, but it could take quite awhile if every move takes an entire week.

I wonder if anyone else has any thoughts on that.

Post subject:  Re: Capital vs. Lowercase: Collaboration Game

Closed books sounds good.
As for time limit,in my opinion a week is too much.
How about four days and 2/3 of the team enough to make the move?(in case the third guy is away for a couple of days)

Exactly where and how do we collaborate? In the thread in hide tags? Privately by PM?
( FWIW, I prefer the former )

You are on our team, Joaz. Take a look at the hide tags we posted. We are already discussing the first move.

@teamwhite
I propose this as a fairly standard move, but I'd be open to playing something adventurous if you all like.

Closed book is fine by me. I'm fine with week-long moves, provided they aren't habitual. Most I expect should take a couple days at most, and we could probably have triggers internal to the team agreed upon as well.

@Teamwhite
I would prefer to play on the lower left to avoid diagonal fuseki,unless you guys into it

@teamwhite
I don't mind diagonal openings. I don't expect it, though, as consensus seems to be that it makes komi bigger. My thinking is that white can react more directly to black's next corner move, but it's a minor quibble.

Yeah, I usually choose the parallel corner so if B plays :b3: you can choose :w4: for example.

@Everyone
Have a nice game.
@Black
I propose Q4.

Author:  Kirby [ Wed Nov 11, 2015 9:36 am ]
Post subject:  Re: Capital vs. Lowercase: Collaboration Game

@Black team:

It's the opening, so we have many choices. So I'm not opposed to Q4. Though, in my own games these days, I feel like Q4 is boring. I don't know why.

My personal preference is to play this 3-4 move.

I can't say I feel that strongly about my preference this early in the game, though :-)

Thoughts?

@CAPS:
I find the dual hoshis to be boring also. If it were up to me, I'd play in the lower left corner.
But if I had to choose among the proposed plays in the lower right corner, I'd prefer Q3.

( All of this is a matter of taste for me, I can't say that any move is better than any other.)
