Hello everybody. How are you?

In this game, I’m white.
The opponent with black stones started playing a "Black hole fuseki" (I found this strange fuseki on youtube).
He made some moves in the middle to make a moyo and get influence.

I got three corners, and after that I put a stone on tengen, trying nullify his influence instead get the 4th corner.
Some moves after that, I was trying to stop his building in the middle…But I could not stop him.

This was a strange game. I’m feeling like I went back to playing as 20k with no understanding of the game.

Please, someone can help-me with a review and some important principles?
I’m white.

Thank you very much!

You seem to be intimidated by the centre strategy.
Up until 75 you are way ahead though. Then you make one mistake after the other, of which 84 is game losing.
I think these mistakes are induced by wrongly evaluating the score.
At 77 I have included an exercise for you.

In case you missed it, someone recently posted some useful info on this fuseki here: https://www.reddit.com/r/baduk/comments ... um=ios_app

The video is great. Even been experimenting with this since I saw it.

Hi DiogoBarbosa,

To repeat already mentioned: study :w82: and :w84: .

some important principles?
You really should forget all general guidelines and play the exact global board in front of you, on every move. However...
If you insist, here's a partial list that I'm sure you already "know" about:
- Liberties, liberties, liberties! Are your life! :w82: :w84:
- Do you have any weakness ? If yes, what to do about it ?
- Does your opp. have any weakness ? If yes, what to do about it ?
- Is your candidate move too slow ( locally and globally ) ?
- Do you really have to reply ?
- Does your opponent really have to reply ?
- Are you sure your 'sente' move is good ?
- Are you peeping when a cut is better ?
- Are you cutting when a peep is better ?
- Are you bogged down by the peep/cut when something else is better ?
- Are you sure you can tenuki ?
- Are you sure tenuki is bad ?
- Are you missing any sneaky sequences ( Liberties! ) ?
- Which direction helps you ?
- Is attack a good idea ?
- Just taking a big point a good idea ?
- Is this trade good for you ?
- What's the score ?
- Shortage of liberties ?
- Are you sure you need to save these stones ?
- Are you throwing good money at bad ?
- Is running better than living ?
- Is just living not good enough ?
- Are you missing a sneaky ko ?
- Are you missing a throw-in ?
- Are you sure this is the best way to live ?
- Are you sure this is the best way to kill ?
- Are you sure you're reducing a correct liberty ?
- Did we mention Liberties ?! :w82: , :w84:
- How to improve your pattern recognition ? ( Go problems )
- What's so good about the connect ?
- What's wrong with just connect ?
- Are you bogged down by a local shape move, missing the big picture ?
- What's the big picture ?
...

I don't know if the checklist is infinite. :blackeye:
But you can probably go on listing for hours.
If you have to literally go through each item on the list on every move, it simply doesn't work.

Instead, we can only digest them as best we can and don't get bogged down by them on every move. :)

What's your plan to fix moves like :w82: and :w84: ? Are you rushing ? Are you doing problems efficiently ?

re: 82, it could have been a blind spot. doing more go problems helps avoid blind spots, though, in a particular game, it's hard to totally avoid blind spots.

from that perspective, if he didn't see f16, i can understand why he wanted to play g10. obviously, it's best not to have a blind spot, and not to miss it. taking time during the game, and doing more problems before game can help this.

i wouldn't think it's a fundamental problem in strategy, though. i might be more sympathetic, because i haven't played in a long time, and have a lot of blind spots :-)
