A game I played earlier today. Things went sort of well, until a corner invasion lived that I don't think should've lived.
Then things fell apart more and more things died.

Hope someone can help me pinpoint some major mistakes. Thanks!

If 170 blocks at e2 can he live?
Hint:
This is a classic life and death problem. Don't let black trick you into a ko. Also note that d4 is not sente, if it were it changes things with another famous tsumego.

If 172 blocks at f2 can he live?
Consider the f3 cut and if that gives black any extra forcing moves which change the corner shape. Whether or not they are forcing depends on the outside.

If 172 pulls back at f3 can he live?
4 in a row

Your weakness in that area is to the right/lower side, not the left. So don't let him escape that way.

Also 162 was not sente if black wasn't so kind, be careful of moves like that which can become middlegame passes.

Quick review

You are trying to find the balance between passive and aggressive. There are a few times I would make the other choice.
Sometimes you choose a direction which I think is wrong and you miss out on shape points that attack big scale.
102 is the root cause of the problems later in the game

Welcome back. :)

A few comments.

:w30: Hane at L-14

:w32: Ditto. And then do not come back to C-15, which threatens nothing.

:w34: L-14.

:w36: Ditto.

:w38: The other counter-hane at P-03.

:w40: Two step hane at P-03.

:w42: L-14, and after that, P-03

:w44: F-16. Divide and conquer!

:w46: L-14

:w48: Ditto.

:w52: Ditto.

:w54: Ditto.

:w56: Ditto.

:w58: Huh? Very small. Hane at L-14.

:w60: L-14.

:b61: Very good!

:w62: P-03. Big. You can sacrifice the four stones on the top side.

:w64: Ditto.

:w66: Very small. P-03. Big.

:w68: Bravo! :)

:w70: Good.

:w72: Better just to capture. This way gives Black a sente on the 2-2.

:w82: Small extension from a live group. The center is urgent. K-09, for instance.

:w88: Saving 3 1/2 stones is not very big. Other center plays to make eye shape are probably better.

:w96: Reflex. A play to make eye shape is probably better, such as N-10.

:w2: (White 102). Questionable. White is ahead with many good places to play. Saving a single stone seems like bad instincts. It gives White options. Why not target the two Black orphans on the bottom side to center?

:b7: White has made a four stone string with only 3 dame, while Black is building central strength. How can this be good?

:w16: Creates a cutting point for Black. Better to play a solid block, or the keima at L-08.

:w30: Questionable. The following moves are readable at your level.

:w38: Good.

:w48: Not necessary to live. A good time to shore up the bottom left.

:w54: Just play the descent to the edge. Not only do you get one more point, but you prevent a possible ko in the future. That matters in the fight to come, BTW.

:w62: Throw in at S-01. That'll learn him. ;)

:w82: Making an eye looks attractive, and Deep Leela (Leela 11) likes it, but the position is tricky. May I suggest reducing Black’s liberties directly, with G-02? (Edit: I now think only G-02 works. I may be wrong, OC.) Unless I have made a mistake, White wins the capturing race. One important point. Make sure to make a solid connection at J-02. That will give White the same number of dame as Black, with Black to play, so it looks as though Black will win the capturing race. But Black must make a play to prevent White from capturing a Black stone played at K-02, or to prevent White from making an eye or threatening to do so with a play at L-02, so White will win the race. You have to take some care to avoid a ko, too. So play around with the position. :)

:b83: Mistake. Allows atari,

:w4: (White 204). Don't. Just don't. Even if you do not see the danger of allowing the Black wedge, the big play is the hane-tsugi on the top side.

Yes, it is not sente, but Black needs to reply at S-01, forcing R-01. If Black tenukis, White can play at S-01.

After you secure life for all your groups with O2, the black group in the bottom right
can be killed.
