Did anyone even post about this on L19 before? I myself wasn't really eager to watch the players during play (rocking forward and backward), but EuroGoTV did the normal game relays (which I certainly used) as well. While European Go dreams big about a working professional system, it loses its taken-for-granted projects.

EuroGoTV will stop function on June 1 2015.

After 8 years of existence with relative a lot of success the end is abrupt.

...

Why do we stop?

There are several reasons ... of course money is one of them. Although the cost to run EuroGoTV technically are very low, it takes more time and energy as one would think. Time I(we) cannot use to earn money with a regular job. Our not so great relationship with the EGF is another reason, as is my disappointment that EuroGoTV was seldom used by tournament organizers as intended (as a tool to attract sponsors), but on the contrary, seen as a financial burden. Also the fact that so few of you became a VIP-member (or made a donation -> `only` 600 euro in 8 years) didn`t give me the impression our efforts were appreciated as I aspired.

...

It's a shame but I guess it was ahead of its time.

The reason why I didn't use the site more often is that the level of european Go is so low. I don't want to watch "weak" amateurs and have no interest in their game records (I don't generally watch relays of tournaments either). On the other hand I really love the yearly Ranka blog (http://ranka.intergofed.org/) for the WAGC. The level is higher, there is more to read than primarily results and games are analysed by professionals.

As long as there is nothing in place to make the content fun (infotainment) for the average Go player, I guess such endaevours will have a hard time (at least when my interest is concerned). And then there is the issue paying for stuff on the internet...

I'll certainly miss it. Now the only consolidated source of European news will be the AGA E-journal.

It's sad, but as others have said - it didn't have compelling information (the news feed was almost totally results from the EGD feed) or (apparently) a workable business plan to support it.

I think that the EGF does need to do something to provide European news, even if it can't provide broadcast of important games. However, its focus seems elsewhere.

I fear that the AGA consolidated news will probably cease, as I suspect it depended on EuroGoTV.

My thoughts exactly. I was going to watch the DDK Workshop videos that they had.

Potential reasons:
- Legal/copyright issues.
- Other, personal reasons.
