The double-ko solution does live, but there is also a solution to this problem which doesn't require a double ko. It starts with a different first move:

White can't connect, so black lives. I think this is better than double-ko, since double-ko can provide an infinite supply of ko threats to the opponent.

If white connects in the corner, black captures. Even though this looks like bent-4, and White can try to make it ko, White will fail because black has too many outside liberties. Again, this seems better than double-ko.

IF Black answers White's first move at the marked spot with 4, the correct sequence ends with Double-Ko. That's what I wanted to show.

Usually Black's answer at the 2-2-point is not shown in the books. This may be due to the "inheritance" of one of the mistakes in Cho Chikun's Encyclopedia (at least the disk version). The sequence there ends with move and the remark "Ko".

It goes without saying that this mistake had been made by one of the ghostwriters, not by Cho Chikun himself. Perhaps this ghostwriter didn't recognize that Black's group has two outside liberties.

But from the very beginning, the pivotal White move here is not the correct one to start the handling of this standard corner postition.
