Hello, I am Rig. It has been seven years since I played Go online and possibly with another person. I am jumping back in the saddle and trying to learn from the beginning again. Does anyone have any good sources for books or pdfs of books that I can buy/get for free and study? Thank you all for your time.

An overview of free resources is available from Sensei's Libary: https://senseis.xmp.net/?PagesForBeginners

A structured overview of what to learn, with reference pages https://senseis.xmp.net/?BeginnerStudySection

In terms of books, I would recommend the classics "Life & Death" and "Tesuji" by James Davies. I think you can get to dan level with just these two books.

BUT it is very important to play games and review them, on your own and with AI, to find major mistakes and better moves.

Next to that, in order to improve your reading, you can solve go problems. There are several free resources out there, also as Android/iOS apps.
An interesting resource is https://neuralnetgoproblems.com/ where you can solve real game problems set to your level.

Welcome back. Many libraries have the five-volume set "Learn To Play Go" by Janice Kim and Jeong Soo Hyun. Buy them. The yootoobs are lousy with go channels, some terrible, some extraordinary. You pick and choose your instructional resources depending on your time, commitment, and drive to succeed at improving. The current rage is keeping up with how the AIs have emerged as powerful players and their newly created moves. If you have a previous background in joseki, these two volumes (from 2019-2021) are highly recommended to bring you up to speed: https://www.kiseidopublishing.com/Other.htm#K89
https://www.kiseidopublishing.com/Other.htm#K90

If you wish to grow quickly, find a teacher.

Some of the books at gobooks.com are so cheap they're not far off being free! Plenty to choose from there.

Also, what Knotwilg said :-)

Thank all of you for the responses. I have already bookmarked the pages and will get the books as soon as I am able.
