Hi,

I am a Spanish man living in Vietnam for some time. I learnt Go around 20 years ago but my progress died as few people were playing in Spain at that time. I re-started my introduction to Go along meditation practices, which I find very complementary.
I hope to learn from all of you.

Carlos.

Welcome. Do you have many people in Vietnam to play against?

Still officially AGA 5d but I play so irregularly these days that I am probably only 3d or 4d over the board (but hopefully still 5d in terms of knowledge, theory and the ability to contribute).

When I visited the 4th Asian indoor and martial arts games in Incheon, Korea I played a friendly game with one of the Vietnamese team (called Bin iirc, 7d on wbaduk). It was a tightly fought game which he won in the end.

Sorry for very late acknowledge of your posts.

No, Go (Cờ Vây) in Vietnamese, is not very popular. Here the most popular board game is Chinese Chess. There are some players around, as I see in facebook and KGS, but the meetings and clubs seem to be sporadic and short-lived. I have hope to find players in the big Korean and Japanese community living here, although they are quite closed.

I have also seen a couple of 5d who would also teach. I have the plan to ask them to teach me when I am further in my Go Path.

Apparently, there is a Korean pro named Lee Gangwook who teaches in Vietnam.

The following links are in Korean, but they contain photographs related to go in Vietnam.

If you live in Hanoi or Ho Chi Min City, then you might have the chance to occasionally receive professional instruction.

Just reporting that introduced by Jerryhuy I got into the HCM Go Club/ Study group. Great welcome from all members and although I find myself inadequate in level, I feel that I will get better.

What rank are you at and how often can you come to th club? I'd just attended a session and might be back on Friday for more. But I'm sooo weak in comparison to the rest of the club member (around 20k)so we might be a better match for each other, beside, I need some excuse to "practice" my deadbeat high school Spanish ;D
