Post subject:  Hello everybody!!!

I'm Roy, I'm a beginner!! And I'd like to share a story with you. :)

I knew about Go for 5 years and by then I only knew the basics but since I had no one to play I didn't progress. I even have played some games online but haven't won a single one XD. it took me a complete year to convince my girlfriend to learn Go because I wanted someone to play with, and every single time I told her "Let's play Go" she said "Owww... that's boring!! I don't want to...". Just a couple of months we were discussing if we want to get married and I said "Only if you win against me in a game of Go", having said that as a joke I didn't think she was taking it seriously but then I heard "Challenge Accepted!!"... Now she wipes the floor with me.... And I'm getting married. :)

Well.. that's me. :) hi everybody!!

Congrats Roy!
Good story!
Love to the wife (to be).
Pro-tip: only let her beat you at go, not IRL (at least, not too hard :_) )

Few people are lucky enough to have a go buddy living with them.

You are most fortunate. Also, you should set yourself a reward for when you manage to catch up to her. Make sure it's something she doesn't quite want to let you have easily. A bit of rivalry will help you both develop much faster.

I started learning go during my first year of marriage and I had wanted my wife to learn and play along with me, but alas, it was not meant to be. I was unemployed at the time, so I was spending hours a day playing and learning, so I left her in the dust and after a single visit to the go club decided it wasn't for her. But she does listen to me recount my games - and often with only a slightly glazed over look!

Greetings, Tom
