Hey all. I'm a beginner/novice looking for someone interested in linking up in the PDX area to play weekly...or perhaps 2x/week. I've played online but prefer sitting across a table from a real person with a real board in front of me and stones in my hand!! Talking about moves without the pressure of an online clock and learning together is much more enjoyable!! I've been to the PDX Go Club that meets Sat afternoons at the St Pauls church. Unfortunately, the Sat afternoon meeting time is not very convenient for me.

If anyone out there would like to link up and take the time to play, learn, and improve your game, reply here or send me a PM. I'm willing to drive someplace that's convenient for both of us.

Thanks!! :salute:

The American Go Association lists three go clubs in Portland Oregon. See http://www.usgo.org/where-play-go?state=OR#listing . The Portland Go Club meets on Tuesday 6 - 10 PM.

I used to live in Eugene. Reading this makes me nostalgic for Oregon. I always loved Oregon, and visited Portland so many times. Sorry this is not a response to your question, but I just wanted to post anyway.

Many clubs have mostly advanced players coming to regular meetings. It's not surprising since those people are already committed to the game. However, clubs that have a reasonable size of membership may have beginners' nights or have designated people who agree to play/teach weaker players. Ask at the club.

Goodluck! I agree there is something special about sitting across from another person and playing with real stones etc...
