Hello to everyone. Recently I have been putting stones on a board with my 8-year old neighbor, who likes to make patterns. I have started looking into how to play, so I can be there to teach her if she shows an interest in the actual game. I watched a Jonathan Markowitz video on 9x9 play https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eu-bgCerp_I and after a couple of tries managed by beat Igowin with a 5 stone handicap. This is not a great accomplishment but it is progress! I have attached the sgf file below. Wam7c vs. Igowin, June 2019.

Nice work! Next step: 4 stones :) It is easy to overwhelm people with detailed reviews so I will give you just a single 20k-level tip: on move 32 you had a much better way to attack the White stone, which I bet you can find yourself.

Thanks Dfan! I appreciate help. I think you are saying on move 32 I should have played beside the white stone forcing it down. Instead I played underneath letting it run to the right.

Indeed! Probably you can see that it would have quickly been captured. You will find that herding stones towards the edge of the board, where they run out of space to run, is an effective technique in general.
