NEXT 6 MONTHS' TOURNAMENTS - http://www.australiango.asn.au/Events.php

2014 Australian Capital Territory Championships, Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th July, Australian National University, Canberra
10th Korean Ambassador's Cup, Sunday 17th August, Sydney, New South Wales
4th Gold Coast Classic, Sunday 5th October, Helensvale, Queensland
37th Australian Championships, Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th December, Eastwood (Sydney), New South Wales
1st Australian Go Congress, Monday 26th to Saturday 31st January, 2015, Macquarie University (Sydney), New South Wales

That last one is new. The Australian Go Association are very pleased to see a committee of prominent southern players led by Sang-Dae Hahn and Raphael Shin come together and organise the first go congress down under. The AGA heartily supports the idea, and look forward to receiving enough details to endorse the tournament as a ranked Australian first-class event attracting international representative points. If you are interested in playing, or in volunteering to help, or both, contact Raphael Shin or David Ormerod.

ONLINE

David Mitchell 5d of Sydney City Go Club has set up an Australian room on the Online Go Server - http://online-go.com/group/261 - OGS supports regular online go (like KGS) and also correspondence go (for the time-challenged). The room has 20 members and climbing, because David hangs out there on Tuesday evenings (AEST) and dispenses teaching games and wisdom. Especially for the players outside the East Coast capital cities, I encourage you to join the server, then join the room, then play some go on Tuesdays. :)
There are friendship games happening in the OGS Australia Room on Sunday 13 July from 3pm - this month's are between players from Queensland and New South Wales. Players from all over Australia are cordially invited to attend and (politely) watch the play. If we're lucky, we may get a game review from Sydney resident professional An Younggil. If you want to volunteer your state for the next round of friendship games, talk to David afterwards.
There is also an Australian ladder in the OGS Australia Room. More players on it would be welcome. :)
There is also, of course, the Australia Room on the KGS Go Server. If you'd like to organise online events there, talk to Matthew Crossman (matjet) the room administrator.

CLUBS - http://www.australiango.asn.au/Clubs.php

There is a new Melbourne City Go Club, complementing the University and Victorian clubs, meeting on Wednesday evenings, details at the link.
The Perth Go Club has settled down to a fixed location at Tzu Chi Australia, 247 Fitzgerald Street, West Perth, meeting on Saturday afternoons from 1pm. Contact clivehunt@bigpond.com if you're in the city and you want to play some go.
The Armidale Go Club in northern New South Wales meets every Wednesday at 6pm - more details at the flash new web site.

INTERNATIONAL

This week was the 35th World Amateur Go Championships. Sang-Dae Hahn represented Australia, coming 37th with three victories (beating Francis Roads from England, Andrius Petrauskas of Lithuania, and Luis Araya of Costa Rica) out of seven rounds. Alas eternal rival New Zealand's Zhijie Bei placed 32nd with four victories. Next year...
13-year-old Aaron Chen has been selected as this year's Australian representative to the Korean Prime Ministers Cup, racking up the largest representative points total after his performance in the 2013 Korean Ambassador's Cup in Sydney. All else being equal, he will be the youngest player ever to represent Australia internationally in a world championship.
