Hey everyone,

Just posting to let you guys know that I've been talking with Allan Abramson and I've just taken up the long-vacant Volunteer Coordinator position.

I have a few ideas for outreach (some of which I'll post here), but this thread is primarily an introduction. So hello!

Obviously, my first action will be to organize and train a deadly band of ninjas and then do my J. Edgar Hoover thing. But following that, I'd like to use this AGA Volunteers forum to aid in recruitment.

So here's the deal, if you are running an event or need to accomplish a go-related task, anything that you need help with, you have a couple options. You can contact me by email at volunteer AT usgo DOT org or you can post the event in this forum,

If you decide to use this forum: Post with the title name [VOLUNTEERS REQ] followed by the location and the task/event. Include in the body, the skills and time requirements of the position.

(It could be as simple as an extra hand to set up at the tournament, or as complicated as a new web interface for your club... the sky's the limit really. I won't guarantee that we'll find someone that is able to accomplish it, but it certainly doesn't hurt to ask).

If you are interested in the posted position, PM both me and the original poster.

The goal here is to make this area a sort've "Volunteer's Craigslist". Hopefully, by having a central area where people can present what they need, we can marshall the community's not insignificant skill-set to meet those needs.

(EDIT: Moderator, can you sticky this?) Done. -JB

Hi. I was wondering if your usgo email access has been enabled yet?
I sent you an email recently regarding a high school tournament.
Would it be easier just to PM you or post on the forum?

I saw your email to tournaments@usgo.org, Is that the one you mean?
Edward Zhang should be answering those, but if he doesn't include the list again in his reply, then the rest of us listening on the list won't know anyone has replied at all. Sorry if you haven't got a reply yet.
