After a long break filled with real life stuff for me, I'm going to organize a tournament on Kaya.gs again. Will there be someone to beat the 2 of 2 time winner conanbatt ? Try it ;) Here are the details:

End of Registration: 29.9.12 13.00 UTC
Start of the 1.Round: 29.9.12 14.00 UTC
Tournament system: MacMahon
Number of Rounds: 5
Board size: 19x19
Time settings: Fischer time with 15 minutes main time + 10 seconds per move.

The rounds should start like this:

1. Round: 14.00 UTC
2. Round: 15:20 UTC
3. Round: 16:40 UTC
4. Round: 18:00 UTC
5. Round: 19:20 UTC

If you want to take part either leave me a message here or on kaya.gs. If you tell me on kaya.gs please be sure that I noticed your message (I will answer to every registration I see there)

EDIT: Because I got asked: UTC is the same as the Kaya Server Time ;)

EDIT2: A list of all registrated players until now (last updates 16.9. 08:01 UTC)

AukaD
djllap
Oceandrop
Phelan
phillip1882

McMahon + Fischer, an excellent choice. I'm signing up then, "sh" on Kaya.gs.

Maybe it would be a good idea to display a list of paarticipants in your initial post.

Thanks for organizing the tournament.

Three weeks and the rest of this week, that's a tough plan. I am curious how this tool will look like. A sign-up tool (can also be implemented after this tournament), the pairings, automated starts of games (?). How will you handle participants that are not showing up, (let's say) 5 minutes before the tournament start? (questions for a new thread probably, I am not going to derail Celebrir's tournament thread).

There is actually a lot done for tournaments already. As i have stated before, Kaya has covert-ops projects, that have weeks of work and havent yet reached the server.
There is a tournament engine and a very small site for managing it: its on OpenKaya and it was done with a large help from collaborators.

In the future, users will be able to create ad-hoc tournaments as they wish, provided they get enough quorum for their self-organized tournament.
But there is still a lot of work to do about it. Making baby steps, i would like to make the tournament organization easy for celebrir and transparent for users to see how the tournament is going. That and rule/presence control. We'll see how it goes.
Of course, anyone can take up the code and keep improving the tournament site (which is absolutely independent from kaya) and with our aid and guide making it more robust and polished. What we have to do is create an API or a system to make tournaments run easily on kaya. I have started working on this and it has quite a few hours put in, but its still far away.

Thanks I like this settings as well and hope more real life played tournaments will be played with it in the future. But I fear there aren't enough digital clocks :(

Sure, that was my plan. Nearly did it ~8 hours ago but it was after midnight for me and I realised to late that I was on the wrong OS (Windows while my tournament files are on Linux...) I'll do it right after this answer.

No problem at all, I enjoy those tournaments myself very much^^

Sorry, but we have a problem: I got a important appointment at the tournaments evening and wouldn't be able to organize rounds 4&5. I can think of several options:
1) Someone else organizes the rounds 4&5
2) We play the last 2 rounds on Sunday (not happening until everyone agrees)
3) We move the whole tournament to a weekend later.

What do you all think would be best ?

Sorry again about this :(

I have an important appointment that will probably last until Saturday early afternoon, so I second Phelan to move the complete tournament to Sunday. Starting Sunday morning would be fine for me.
Moving the complete tournament to the following weekend is not possible for me, because at that weekend I plan to attend the Bochum tournament..

Okay... We only have two opinions which is kind a few... Moving everything to Sunday would be a little bit to sudden if the most players doesn't know anything. Therefore the tournament will be canceled this weekend. What about playing at the weekend in two weeks (13.10) ?

This deadline push is a huge sigh for me :).

Actually i made some changes for the ASR so making sure people in a tight group can only play between each other is simple.

Full fledged tournament support is something we would like to do, and its a serious and difficult challenge from a server stand point.
