I am currently pondering whether or not I should get a supporter account.

I would like to know if there are any plans (no problem if they're long term) of adding an option for board skins, along with different stones and sounds. As petty as it sounds, what makes me get bored of KGS is watching the same board and the same stones over and over again. It may be that I was born in the videogame generation, but I like to mix things up visually every now and then.

I think that's pretty much the only reason why I go to FlyOrDie Go every now and again, for the differently looking board and the "woosh" sounds!

So is there anything like this coming to Kaya at any point? Has it been discussed before?

I haven't seen it suggested before, but one nice thing about kaya is that there is a feedback section, where suggestions can be made and voted on. If this is something that you would like, just go ahead and suggest it :)

While so far Kaya has been focusing on functionality, and, from what I've read, have no plans on having multiple screen layouts, I see no reason not to have board and stone skins.

Like daal said, ask for it on Uservoice.

Universal go server handle: ProtoJazz
I remember back when Gmail was still fairly new you could skin most of it however you wanted by pointing it to a local css file. That could be cool.
Or a mine craft style approach where you just upload a texture sheet

OGS allows local css, if I remember correctly. Several people have uploaded themes too, although the last time I was there, someone was having problems with uploading.

That is something you can do on any website. One user actually goofed around quite a bit and made his client custom to his own :)

There are definite plans of different skins, even more, different themes!

As it was mention, it is low priority to do something like that right now. In fact, we havent actually completed the phase 1 design we want to, we are just too picky with the designer.

I'll chip in and say that the site looks amazing. There may be no explosions, but the interface looks very pleasant to the eye. Subdued, elegant, all in all befitting of a good game.

There should be an option on some go server where the stones DO explode when they are captured. Would be amazing

Not much of a capture if the thing blows up. Helicopter kidnapping in Japanese rules, explosions if using area scoring?

How about Unreal Tournament-style sounds to go along with the explosions?

Kill 2 stones? "Double Kill!"
Kill 3+ stones? "Multi Kill!"
Kill 10 or more stones? "Ultra Kill!"
Kill 20 or more stones? "Godlike!"

For the record tonight at my local go club I shared this thread, and whenever someone took someone elses vital point we yelled 'HeadShot'. well, not everytime, but several times

I have to agree with xatu. Maybe the hard smack down once in a while. But I don't want my games to turn into an FPS.
