Unless I can get a 2-3 week extension (I have a good excuse! I'm getting married! The relationship started because of Go!), I'm going to have to bow out of the tournament.

Thanks to Topazg for being so patient with me!

And a big thanks to HermanHiddema for putting this tournament on this year!

Congratulations!

I'll be happy to wait a bit, some things definitely have priority. Just let me know when you can play. :)

I was going to extend the deadline anyway, as half the games haven't been played yet.

However, white was never able to put the kind of pressure I imagined on o7, and black simply got stronger and stronger in the center. By 119 W is clearly in trouble. After the forcing sequence around 137 I completely lost track of the relative liberties of G10 and J10, which must have bewildered oren.

i could be wrong, but w 70 looks like a no-threat to me and i can't see good alternatives either

nice and mad game

Yeah, that looks right to me... dang. Was there any ko threat around there?

After weeks of trying to overcome a cumbersome time difference, me and danielxr finally got the chance to place.

I played as white and won by res.

Yesterday stalkor was kind enough to rush home from work in order to play me at a reasonable hour, Tokyo time. Unfortunately that meant his head was still busy elsewhere and he was disappointed in not being able to dig into the game as he wanted. I won by resignation, but apologies to S!

We're currently waiting on ez4u vs crux and uber vs loons in the upper bracket, and in the lower:

Topazg vs Schultz (delayed on account of nuptials), winner then plays jedo

Celebrir vs quantumf, winner then plays redundant

Luciano vs jordus, winner then plays tommy ray, then stalkor

Linden tree vs hailthorn, winner play l'il ol' me, then laman.

Hustle, people! I want to be eliminated by Christmas at the latest!

Are the semi's open in the upper bracket? There hasn't been an announcement on that.

Yes, the tournament is still ongoing! :)

I'm sorry I've not been very active in organising it, real life left me with relatively little time recently.

jts has already posted a list of open games. The most important ones are the round 2 losers bracket games, of course.

Although it is always possible to play ahead, there is absolutely no rush to play the semi-finals. The loser of crux-ez4u enters the losers bracket in round 6, so there's a lot of games to be played before that becomes urgent.

I thought we set a deadline that people had to play by? If people vanish, I thought they would eventually forfeit the game.

The people who would be in line for forfeit are Schultz (who did ask for a delay, but only for three weeks), hailthorn, and either Luciano or jordus (haven't seen either of them complain yet). This is Herman's call, though, so we should leave the infinite cruelties that come with leadership to him.

Gah! Life rolls on, time passes, and you end up ignoring your Go games.

I've shot a message topazg's direction, so hopefully we can grab some time this week[end].

And thanks for the notes (and extension!) guys. :)

I didn't got a PM from you but I'm in the loser bracket. However, I'm here and waiting for my opponent :)

Yes, but your game is in round 3, so the deadline is not for your game. Only the three games in round 2 have the Monday deadline.
