Is it something he had done specially for the AlphaGo series? Is it a gesture towards how seriously he's taking the whole thing? It looks very studious.

This was mentioned during Game 1 before the match started.
Apparently they have a good hairdresser at the Four Seasons but you have to book-up ;-)
