I think this topic may have come up before, but since it's been awhile, let's try it again.

Any playlist/song recommendations for playing go, studying, and/or otherwise enjoying life? :-)

I've been enjoying synthwave music a lot recently, especially in a warm summer evening (like right now). It's something you can listen passively to, so it's great for studying (for me at least), and it brings in nostalgic vibes. I got sucked into it after watching Stranger Things and finding out about outrun.

Currently listening to: FM-84 - Atlas

I don't often listen to music while playing go, but when I do it's usually Bach. I have a soft spot for the mandolin, so I've been listening to a newish album by Edgar Meyer (bass), Yo-Yo Ma (cell), and Chris Thile (mandolin) called Bach Trios.

New-to-me albums I've been listening to while working include Undercurrent by Sarah Jarosz and This Empty Northern Hemisphere by Gregory Alan Isakov.

Young Mountain by This Will Destroy You is one I always return to while working/studying.

I also discovered the Oh Hellos in the last year and have quite enjoyed them.

Online playing schedule: irregular and by appointment
I don't play with music.
But I did an experiment: I played an online game listening to The Ramones, which was also in the game offer.
(That a famous punk band, you heathen)
Someone named FullMetal replied, and we played, so it was punk vs metal. I won, so, may I conclude it helps if you listen to loud music?

One of my favourite bands is The Stranglers.
They made songs titled like: No more heroes, Too many teardrops, Still life, Black and white, Threatened, (Have you got enough) Time, Outside Tokyo, Everybody loves you when you're dead, Burning up time, (blitz) 5 Minutes, Time to die, and even a song called Hey! Rise of the robots (1978), haha, how foretelling.
One could make a nice go music playlist from these.

Please note that I have very broad musical preferences. So for the classical music lovers I'd suggest Requiem by W.A. Mozart (also if you are not playing go).

"Earth" by Jesper Kyd. This is my track when I'm motivated and getting things done!

Either my Spotify playlist or some hands up techno mix on Youtube - those are long enough that I don't have to interrupt my game to find a new track.

My favourite band is Queens of the Stoneage. But it's not really the kind of music you can relax to, let alone concentrate in a game of go with. But 'Memories of Alhambra' and 'Capricho Arabe' by Francisco Tárrega never fail at getting me relaxed. I'm not sure if I would ever play a game of go to my best ability with music in the background, but you could try those if you are so inclined.

yeah stonerrock is nice, but i prefer kyuss over qotsa when playing go. but it all depends on mood obviously. some traditional japanese ensembles also are excellent. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ZDBztK_MYE

One recommendation that I have tried myself is to pick slow music with a tempo of around 60 beats per minute, i.e., 1 beat per second. Two pieces come to mind: Pachelbel's Canon and A Whiter Shade of Pale. The House of the Rising Sun has a good tempo, but is a little too raunchy for easy listening -- for me, anyway. :)
