I'm 57. I feel like I'm in my 40's again. The medical problems alluded to in the previous several years' posts are mostly cured - or at least held at bay.

So I'll skip the comments about dodging my death. Instead, I'll comment about ones of the other things that us old folks experience a lot: other peoples' deaths.

If it doesn't happen to you, you will be around when it happens to others. So learn a bit about wills, estates, trusts, etc. And get everything in writing. No matter how much someone assures you that the paperwork is properly done, if you may be a beneficiary, ask for a copy to be sure that it is done right.
Make sure that you have copies of keys ( houses, safety deposit boxes, cars, safes, etc )
Get to know the neighbors of your relatives.
Talk to other beneficiaries so that you don't find yourselves fighting over sentimental possesions at vulnerable moments. Decide it all beforehand.
And make sure that you know who has medical power of attorney.


Dang, this post is getting grim...so on to the lighter side:

My dearest wife bought me a Dell XPS for my birthday, with Ubuntu factory loaded, backlit keyboard, touchscreen, extra memory, all of the goodies.
She made brownies ( gluten free! )
She told me to not make plans for this weekend. :mrgreen:

I turned 34 today, and my KGS account is four stones stronger than it was at this time last year. It's been a good year for go. :-)

I'm now 58. Mrs. Banbeck took me to dinner at WP24, a restaurant in downtown Los Angeles on the 24th floor of the Ritz Carleton.

The photo below is me and Mrs. Banbeck just after dinner. That is LA in the background. The westernmost of the downtown skyscrapers - such as they are in earthquake country - are just at the right edge. The Hollywood hills line the horizon, with the Hollywood sign just out of sight to the left.

28. Since then, I got married and bought a house. I also started getting into cycling last month (on Strava). Less time for Go :(. Time flies so fast...
