Antti Törmänen 1p has just published a new book - the first English edition of Gokyō Shūmyō, one of the classic tsumego collections.

You will find an interview with Antti on his new publication in the June edition of the European Go Journal.

You can buy the digital edition of the book here: https://eikaiwa.gumroad.com/l/iugsj/

That's nice! I once got the collection in the version of Hashimoto Utaro, as a present from a group of citizens of Kanazawa who came to visit their jumelaged city Ghent. The group featured no other than Kunihisa Honda 9p!

This led to the collection being covered on Sensei's Library: https://senseis.xmp.net/?GokyoShumyo

It will be interesting to finally understand some of the comments!

That won't be easy, unless Hashimoto's family, normally very protective of copyrights, have authorised a translation of his comments. With a couple of exceptions, Genbi's original has no comments. Hashimoto's ordering is also quite different. He tries to group them in order of difficulty. Genbi mixes them up but does add tiny hints to indicate difficulty, which Hashimoto omits. It is possible to have a debate about which order is best.

Incidentally, SL is incorrect in saying the 1882 edition has no solutions. They are in Volume 4 (in Go Wisdom style!).

On the 19th of June, Ke Jie 9p defeated Tang Weixing 9p in the final of the 21st South-West Qiwang. You will find commentary on that game in the June edition of the European Go Journal.
