Being slaughtered on Tygem

Post by ShinLyuu »

Hello,

playing on Tygem around the 6k level, I tend to either win by a large margin or get beaten severely. I get thrown off balance easily by unexpected moves and also don't know how to handle the 2-space high pincer well. Please review my game a little, I am white in this game. ^^

Thank you in advance!

Take this with a grain of salt, but I get the impression that a lot of white's troubles stemmed from the plan to push on the second line in order to kill the lower left, and prior to that, trading k3 for black f3 in gote. It gave black overwhelming influence plus sente to start making use of it, which was worth more than the group white killed. White can just make his group safe prior to the counter-pincer and play from there.

Your crawling on the second line on the left side made me cringe. At the very least after having four stones on the second line you should make a one-space jump to get ahead in the pushing battle. Once you're ahead in the pushing battle, you can start to consider hanes to get off the second line (if you're confused about what I'm talking about I can make a diagram), In the actual game you destroyed all the potential of your D16 stone and gave black huge influence over the top side.

Another sequence you could've considered on the left side for move 40 was the one listed here, which makes miai of capturing one of the two black groups in a ladder.
We don't know who we are; we don't know where we are.
Each of us woke up one moment and here we were in the darkness.
We're nameless things with no memory; no knowledge of what went before,
No understanding of what is now, no knowledge of what will be.

w can't stop crawling here so he fails.

I must say after crawling 4 times the situation seems rather complicated so a diagram might help (me, at least). Jumping seems to depend on the w stone at D16, right? Your idea for move 40 is quite helpful.
I think I am so I think I am.
