VsCom

Post by VerdeICe »

I dont know. The computer said it didn't know how to respond to move 87. Why? Was the move I made so dumb it broke the game? I dont know where to post this exactly so I just put it here. I need to improve anyway. Its a 15x15 but it seems to show up as a 19x19 for some reason...

It's hard to tell for sure without the right borders.

But I think just the opposite happened.

You were ahead by so many points the computer didn't think it could catch up.

Or the computer thought you were playing some crazy tesuji that would kill him because
I think some bots still have trouble with life and death?

I tried to make some suggestions - mainly shape issues. Take it with a grain of salt... ;-)

Unfortunately, the online SGF viewer seems not capable of 15x15 boards - you need to download the SGF and view it e. g. in cgoban...

edit: some further additional suggestions / typo

This is why I've gotten less enthusiastic lately about playing Gobots. (I'll put up two of my games with GnuGoBot39 in another thread.) Often, one either has to play with exceptionally strong reading skills right from the start, or play unconventional openings in an attempt to confuse the program.

Well, GnuGoBot seems to play on KGS at around 5-6k level. With 10k you can't expect a high win rate. I suggest to play against it with 4-5 handicap stones and to reduce their number when you improved. I cannot see anything negative when playing an opponent who requires stronger reading skills - you can learn a lot more of it than by playing blundering beginners. At 5-6k level, also the reading skill cannot be "exceptionally strong" - it just shows that there is still much room for improving your own reading skill e.g. by doing tsumego.
