During my traveling in Chine a month ago I bought two sets of yunzi stones (single- and bi-convex) at one of the go clubs in Beijing. In the end, I did not like how those stones "feel" while playing. Apparently I prefer smoother surfaces of my glass stones. I decided to sell the single convex set and keep the biconvex just as a memory about my trip to China. The single convex stones are completely new and unwashed. Those also are "old" yunzi, which are a bit yelowish, and which are famous with the fact that they might contain lead. I am selling it basically for the price that I payed there, 15$. I can imagine that the shipping from the Netherlands to the US can make this deal very unattractive, but probably some other countries would be interested. The package weight is about 2.3kg, it includes black and white stones (I have not counted how many there are, but it is a new complete set), two plastic bowls and a thin plastic go board. The official costs for shipping using TNT post are:

NL: 8$
EUR 1: 24$
EUR 2: 32$
EUR 3: 32$
WORLD: 44$

The description of EUR 1 and other zones is below.

With those rates any package up to 10 kg can be sent. If some one is interested, I am also selling a set of new bamboo bowls for 25$, which might be combined with that shipping.

EUR 1:
België, Luxemburg, Denemarken (exclusief Faeröer Eilanden en Groenland), Duitsland, Frankrijk (inclusief Corsica en Monaco), Italië (exclusief San Marino en Vaticaanstad), Oostenrijk, Spanje (inclusief. Balearen, excl. Canarische eilanden), Verenigd Koninkrijk (exclusief Gibraltar en Kanaaleilanden), Zweden

EUR 2:
Bulgarije, Estland, Finland, Hongarije, Ierland, Kroatië, Letland, Litouwen, Polen, Portugal (inclusief Azoren en Madeira), Roemenie, Slovenië, Slowakije, Tsjechië

EUR3: Albanië, Andora, Bosnië-Herzegovina, Canarische Eilanden, Cyprus, Faeröer Eilanden, Gibraltar, Griekenland, Groenland, IJsland, Kanaaleilanden, Liechtenstein, Macedonië, Malta, Moldavië, Montenegro, Noorwegen, Oekraïne, San Marino, Servië, Turkije, Vaticaanstad, Wit-Rusland, Zwitserland

Nice.

I assume you can’t be convinced to sell the bi-convex stones and keep the single convex instead …

Regards, Tom

Hi Tom,

No, I decided to keep the bi-convex ones. Before I thought that indeed it is nice to play with single convex stones, and use them for example to study variations and so on.... but (as I also read in some other posts) it is also not so nice to pick single convex stones from the bowl in a right way. Half of the time one needs to turn them other side before placing on the board. At the same time, for me it is easier to "read" the board using single convex than for example using 9.4mm double convex glass stones.

Thanks for your reply :-)

I have a set of single convex Jade Yunzi stones, and I like them for exactly this reason. When, during our Friday Go evenings, we decide we’d rather explore variations than “simply” play on, we switch to these.

Well, in my experience it’s just as hard as picking up shell stones and placing them correctly :-D

This is interesting. My reading is equally bad with all kinds of stones.

Greetings, Tom
