Hey guys,

I am an absolute beginner to the game of Go. I started learning the game two weeks ago and I love the strategic depth of the game.

I've been lurking this forum for a few days and I enjoy the discussions, the game reviews and the resources for beginners. Hopefully I can meet some fellow beginners to train against and some more veteran plays to teach me the tricks of the trade or review some of my matches.

Welcome to the forum! Where in Belgium are you from? Maybe there is a club near you so you can meet fellow go players!

I live in Antwerp but I study in Geel.

In Antwerp you can go to the Zurenborg, at the Dageraadplaats. On KGS you can find friendly people in the Belgian room.

I saw about the club in Antwerp before. I'll try to go there sometime this vacation when I don't have football practice.

Here’s the “clubs” page of the Belgian Go Federation: http://www.gofed.be/clubs there also is one in Geel :-)

Thanks! According to the website the Geel club sadly closed down in 2013 though.

OK, I checked that now … but did you also read the other pages there?

From http://goclubkempen.webs.com/nieuws.htm it seems there MUST be some other Go players there, and the Clubcafé is “Café 't Bakhuis Geel”, you could ask there—or just turn up and put your board and stones on a table, maybe someone will join you?

Also http://goclubkempen.webs.com/ledenclub.htm and http://goclubkempen.webs.com/apps/members/ show that there are three more members of the club and eight or so members of the page … perhaps register and try to contact? Also perhaps ask the former Clubverantwoordelijke http://goclubkempen.webs.com/overdeclub.htm whether he can create a contact between you and the remaining players?

That’s what I’d try at least.
