Apparently WMS has sold KGS... a little late for April fools.

Wow if true I am both sad that an era has ended, but happy for Bill - whose kindness and talent are freed up for other things.

Wow! And GoUniverse just fixed the ban issue. Hope the transition goes well and KGS stays strong.

Go Universe stopped working for me tonight as well. Coincidence or new owners not wanting competition? Time will tell...

I have a hard time accepting this to be true, because it has been announced in an off hand manner in the bgg forum. Since it is there in April, it really smacks of foolery.

I installed it after the update but I'll try it anyways, thanks. Is it working for you?

So, it's been a few weeks now.

Is there any truth to this rumor? I've certainly not seen any news about it.

I read that a few days ago. Is this Real Soon Now relating that a date has been set for an announcement, or rather that we should simply expect an announcement sometime soon?

Yes.

I have seen a draft of the announcement, so I know it exists. I think it had to be passed around a largish number of people, which is why it's still in the pipeline.

Interesting to see it go to the AGF, although they likely have a vested interest and access to more resources than a single person, so it makes good sense!

Exited to see what comes out of this.

I'm a bit surprised that a delay was needed to agree on the contents of a short statement, but this is one of the thing you can't get away from with groups. I look forward to hearing what Oren and Lee plan on doing with KGS.

I was hopping the new Management would take a more energetic approach to engage with the community. Start an issue tracker and stuff like that. Guess not.

They only made the announcement a week ago. Give them some time. :-)

If you do want to see an issue tracker for a KGS client, check out https://github.com/jkk/shinkgs. It's improving quickly, and it's recently been moved onto the KGS domain (https://shin.gokgs.com/) so that it doesn't have the "group ban" difficulty that plagued it (and all other web clients) early on. While it's still officially a third party client, I wouldn't be surprised if the new owners are evaluating whether something like this is the direction of the future.
