From Wikipedia "The round before the quarter-finals is sometimes called the "round of sixteen", "Last Sixteen", or (in South Asia) "pre-quarterfinals";" so maybe Pre-quarterfinal Knockout? Or Preliminary Knockout?

I haven't heard the acronym before in this context, but Uberdude's analysis seems correct to me.

I haven't heard this acronym before either, but Kirby's analysis of Uberdude's analysis seems correct to me.

So a PK is or is not in the Top 32 knockout? I imagine that it is, which means the article is choosing to ignore the other countries in its focus.

Samsung cup is at top 16 stage so I think they want to say there are 8 pairings, 5 of which are China vs Korea. However, according to https://gotoeveryone.k2ss.info/wr/sc/ 6 of them are, plus they missed the n off An Sungjoon's name.

I suppose that's clearer to me know, thanks for the explanations. The IGF's website was never particularly very good, but it really seems to be getting worse these days.

PK is just a supposedly zippy way of saying "(elimination) match". We older people would say something like "shoot out" or "duel". I've read that it comes from gaming (player killing) but for at least some people it's associated with a penalty kick (PK) shoot out. It seems to be an Asian thing. In knockout tables for football after draws, deciding scores are often given as e.g. 5PK4.
