From https://gotoeveryone.k2ss.info/wr/cl/ I see Lee Sedol qualified through a Korean prelim, but the others were seeded. Park J, Shin, Kim make sense, but I'm rather surprised to see Kang Dongyun in there, and Park Y to a lesser extent. Kang's form has been pretty awful recently: there are now 19 koreans higher rated than him on goratings as he's down at #52. Maybe he's still high up in the Korean rankings? Na Hyun is a young player doing well recently (won Asian TV cup, Lee Sedol beat him in final of prelims) I'd have liked to see in it, or others from the new generation like Byun Sangil, Shin Minjun, Lee Donghoon, Kim Myounghoon. Park Yeonghun isn't doing as well as his 2nd peak around 2016, but hasn't dropped as much as Kang. Also Park got to the final last edition, whilst Kang lost in the 1st round, so that doesn't explain the seedings. Kang does have 2 international titles that the youngsters don't have, but Lee Sedol has 18 and he needed to qualify. I feel that if Korea doesn't want to let China run away with even more of the international titles they should select more of the promising young players to give them experience/chances in the big events over the 'oldies' (by which I mean Kang is just under 30!), like we keep seeing a stream of relatively unknown young Chinese pros in international events (and they sometimes win e.g. Xie Erhao in LG).

I have seen Eric Lui was playing Pavol Lisy in this cup. Any way to follow the game?

The games are broadcast on WBaduk (and last longer on Japanese server so you can still replay them all there now). Some surprises:

Motoki Katsuya beat Lee Sedol !!!!
Dang Yifei beat Shin Jinseo, Shin still seems to have poor results given his rating in big events, but Dang also did well at Nonghsim cup recently (including beating Shin)

the rest as probably expected:

Kang Dongyun beat Yu Zhengqi
Kim Jiseok beat Ichiriki Ryo
Xie Ke beat Xu Jiayuan / Kyo Kagen
Pavol Lisy beat Eric Lui
Lian Xiao beat Chen Qirui
Peng Liyao beat Shibano Toramaru

Chen Yaoye 9p can overcome his jinx against western players this round.

Jinx? Was there more than the one loss to Ryan Li?

Chen actually put his anger on Pavol today. Definitely not his usual style.

Park Junghwan played an Alpha Go early 3-3 invasion. Whilst many others pros have been doing this for a while I believe this is a first for Park (at least in a tournament game, maybe he's done it online). He also did the 2 instead of 1 space jump in response to 4-4, pincer, jump out, that's in the Alpha Go teaching tool a few times.

Results:
Park Junghwan beat Peng Liyao by resign
Ke Jie beat Kang Dongyun by resign
Kim Jiseok beat Xie Erhao by resign
Park Younghoon beat Lian Xiao by half a point
Gu Zihao beat Motoki Katsuya by resign
Chen Yaoye beat Pavol Lisy by resign
Dang Yifei beat Tan Xiao by resign
Xie Ke beat Tang Weixing by resign

Oh, I think I mixed up the fact that Ryan Li 1p won two games!

This is one of the stronger lineups for the final 8 that we’ve seen in a while.

The Ke Jie game was amazing. 3 formidable ko's, very unpredictable.
Looking for a sgf file somewhere, haven't found it yet, though.

Think this is the latest round Ke and Park have gotten to play each other in a major tournament, no? Normally they would draw each other much earlier in tourney, at least it seemed.

That pairing is unfortunate—I was hoping to see a Ke Jie vs. Park Junghwan final. The information on k2ss was incorrect
So does Ke or Park take White? :D

P.S.- It appears Dang Yifei has gained some weight!
