Xu Jiayang is another rising star from China.

Look like Ke Jie is going to pull this one out after being behind early.

Pretty stacked final 8 comparing to what we normally see: 4 world champions + the world No. 1 + Xin'ao Cup runner-up (pushed Ke Jie to the limit) + a young top 10 player, with Tao Xinran filling that default random Chinese player slot just because they're so deep.

Yeah, up to now it is the most interesting tournament in years. In semi I would like to see Ke Jie vs Sin Jinseo and Park Junghwan vs Chen Yaoye. I believe they are the strongest at the moment.

Also it is fascinating to see how Kim Jiseok pulled himself together after devastating three losses to Sin Jinseo just a few days before.

Ouch, wished Chen Yaoye could have matched up with one of the Korean big 3. This does guarantee an experienced Chinese player to go through, but also increased the likelihood of 1 vs. 3 in the semi.

Mi Yuting's game vs Shin Jinseo was fun, just like his last one vs Fan Tingyu he had a massive semeai which ended in a seki, and this time he went for walkies through Shin's territory but Shin ended up recapturing that tail and had more points.

The Yike bot seems to give points lead as well as win% estimates, it identified as a key moment in the Iyama-Ke game the clamp at move 101, dropping win% from from 83 to 67 (big but not unusual) and black points lead from 16 to 9 (surprised me how large the corresponding points change was). Black then had to fight a ko to survive so the white group got to safety too. The AI suggested sequences were to just take care of the black group, let white escape out around the clamp stone but it's not home yet so presumably still quite some value in being unsettled. Also the ko even though lost ended up being quite a few points sente yose for white.

Small correction—Peng Liyao and Kim Jiseok are mispelled.
Also, is the draw random or does the sponsor reseed after every round? This is great draw for Korea.

The draw is random each round, with one rule to avoid having players from the same country play each other as much as possible.

I think Mi Yuting missed a chance in the massive semeai in the end - if move 226 doesnt tenuki but keep filling in the liberties for the black's group, it looks it is at least a triple ko, so it may lead to a re-game; Mi Yuting may not have time to valuate if black killed the lower white huge group and gave up the triple ko black group... but if white was going to play 226, white should capture the black K3 stones at K2 in move 204, then the above large two groups should still be seki and white was leading in territories (comparing to the game); in the game, although white was able to walk through black's territory but Shin ended up recapturing that tail... you can tell the differences.

Blackie 9p did a review of the Ke Jie game. https://m.twitch.tv/videos/500798023 .

Also I think I found a double ladder breaker in one variation.

Nice to see Shin progress and have another chance at his first international title, but Park is such s tough opponent for him. Park leads 11-4 in head to head including winning their last 9 games in a row since 2018.

Shin's record against Ke Jie wasn't great either, so this might just be the tournament he finally breaks through.

Tough loss for Tao. He was significantly ahead for the majority of the game.
