AGA Online Pair Go Tournament in June

Post by oren »

I figured I'd throw more advertising out there. There is a cash prize for an online pair go tournament. So far registration has been nonexistent, and we need more advertising out there.

Let everyone know who may be interested.

Is this the pair go tournament that a guy has to team up with a girl to play? Someone asked me, but because I'm not available part of the day on sunday, I told him it might not be possible for that unless there was a way to postpone a match or so until a later time. Not sure if that's possible though. do you have any details on the matter?

Yes, it is. Registration is over and turnout is really small. I'm finding out if it will still occur now.

Just out of interest, how many players would you normally expect at this event?

We used to get around a dozen teams when we did F2F pair go tournaments in the Denver area. I also wonder what they were hoping for as an online turnout.

isn't it hard to know what to expect on an online tournament? It's hard to know how many people could be interested and could decide to go or not, isn't it?

Not really. You start off with the average attendance at the offline championship, plot some trends if you feel like it, then see how this new version compared. Was online a failure or a success....

how hard is it? I've only attended one tournament, but I've never heard the other side of how much work had to be done to put it together, sorry if I'm too curious.
