I suppose in this situation, black should play here:
since white still has the shortage of liberties issue in the marked spot.
However, I think White may then be inclined to threaten as in the game: So maybe black cannot try to kill, above, if white takes the ko. Instead, probably I would do this: If white plays the last move in the sequence, above, then I'd maybe play at the marked spot to try to ensure that the rest dies.
