Nordic Go Academy - Go school on KGS - nga.gospelare.se

Nordic Go Academy - Go school on KGS - http://www.nordicgoacademy.com/

Hello. I decided to write an advertisement here, as NGA has gone a long way since its launch. In short, NGA is a league-based program. You'll play 1-3 games a week against other students and get the games reviewed by the teachers. This forms the 'core'. In addition, right now we offer 6-8 monthly lectures and two simultaneous lesson games per month. Normally, we can guarantee at least one participation chance in the simultaneous games per student. Here's our official page about the Format as well as the Introduction -page.

The teachers of the program are Jeff (egf 6d), Antti (egf 6d) and Juri (egf 5d). You may know us on KGS as Finnish8d, Tien and Namii respectively. Recently, there was an interesting interview with Jeff. I'm sure a lot of you have also been following Antti's blog about his life as an insei in Japan. You can find a few sample reviews on our individual pages on the website.

The program is currently priced 25€ / 40€ / 55€, depending on whether you'll play one, two or three weekly games. The side content (lectures and simuls) is included in each option, so if you're unsure, feel free to try us with the least intense option. These prices translate to a bit less than 35$ / 55$ / 75$ for US residents. (It's historically been harder to include people living in the US in the program due to time-zone differences. The pressure here is on the student; if he can handle it, we naturally don't have anything against it!)
Here is the Payment Details -page.

Some statistics: right now, in March, we have 15 students. In February we had 18. All in all, we've had a total of 34 unique students participate in the program since June 2011.

Registration is handled by our form on the website: Registration Form.

I'll answer any questions here and on KGS.

Best regards,
Namii

As a member since January, I can only recommend this as much as I can. The game reviews are very good (and it's even better if you catch any of the reviewers online and get the review "live"), the lessons so far have been also very interesting (and looks like we will have even more soon!) and the simultaneous games are a lot of fun. Except for the poor player of 6 games at the same time :P

Hi, I'm sanniti on NGA. I'm enjoying a lot as student since November/2011. The reviews are useful, the teachers comment a lot of variations, about fuseki, joseki, middle game an yose, they cover full game; they know how are you going, how you are improving and witch are your weak points. I feel good sensations and I improving, of course.

Do you accept players of all strength? I'm about 15 kyu right now, will I find it useful? Should I look again once I'm sdk? I kinda took a break from Go for the last month so I slipped from ~13 kyu back to 15-16, but I'm looking to improve again.

Hey prichards. Unfortunately, our minimum entry level right now is 7 kyu. However, if you improve fast to SDK, you can surely join as 8 or 9 kyu too ^^ I'm sure the program will be useful to you!

Cheers,

Ive been with NGA since october 2011. To me the biggest value from NGA are the reviews so I can have my mistakes pointed out to me. Its especially useful for vague mistakes which are hard to see just based on the result, like underplay or bad direction of play or mistake in shape. Since Ive joined I feel I have grown alot stronger, from 1dan to 4dan during in 6 months according to KGS.

Then again, I did change my KGS avatar to a picture of cat in about the same time I joined NGA, and its well known many strong players on KGS have cat avatars so maybe..

Are you suggesting I change a mighty Dalek for a picture of my flurry Fatou?
