So, I've finally re-read the rules and will now set up the game :)

Rules below stolen from freegame at viewtopic.php?f=38&t=1010
"Quick rule overview:
1 hidden move
1 open scan costing 2 pt
3 base stones each worth 5pt (will lose 5pt when one gets captures)
plus zones are 5pt when played ( bonus will not be lost when stone gets captures. points are only awarded once for each zone)
minus zones are -5 points (points only deducted once)
each stone on the board is 1 pt (will lose the point when it gets captured)
when we have put a base stone on the same coordinate it gets removed and it turns into a minus zone.
after we each posted our hidden base they are revealed and we make a komi bet.
the rest is like normal go with area scoring."

My base:

So, here's the starting configuration. Now, how does the komi bid work? I'm guessing we each post a value in a hide tag and the person who bids higher moves first? What happens in the event of a draw? Do we flip a coin?

Yeah, not sure what happens if we draw on komi auction, but let's not worry about it unless we actually manage it :)

My bid:
7.5 points

My bid:
10
Edit: I guess it should be a half point? If we're supposed to use half points, I'll make it 10.5 to be fair.

So, looks like I'll go first, with a komi of 10 (or 10.5) points for you. Now to come up with my move.

No need to widen it - it's more than I bid anyways. 10 is fine :) For some reason I doubt a draw is going to happen :p

Your move then :)

I have to say that his base is better on this board, but there's also a lot more weaknesses between them, so my position is not as bad as it may appear.

Alright then, enjoy the game.
His center stones seem inefficient. I bid high on the komi because I feel that with first move, I can destroy his chances of getting enough territory from his wall. He can try to target my stone on the right, but it has many different ways of living, and I don't think he'll get enough from it.

I modified the scores because the base stones are worth 5 points each.

I actually plan to use my hidden move early because there are a number of places that are very damaging.

There are at least 4 obvious hidden move spots on the board, so I thought I'd play it now. I would also like to see if I can bluff my opponent into thinking I have the hidden move in another area and play timidly in that area.

I thought briefly he might do that, but I didn't think he would as it seems too early. What threat could he have made that couldn't be made later? Anyway, I suppose it's best to play a move that solidifies one of my groups without being a pass, and so this move seems like a good move to do that.

Not going to follow up on the hidden move yet (especially because after the last white move there's a connection underneath). This move probably tells my opponent my hidden move is on the left side, but I don't see what else I can do.

Let's see if I can convince my opponent that my hidden move is at J6. In any case, this crosscut is usually a good move, so I don't really lose much by playing it anyways.

I think this is where his hidden move is.

Edit:
Or one above. Now that I think about it, one above is more likely, and I should've played something else or at least used a scan.

This move would make sense if my hidden move were at J6, so perhaps white will capture?

In any case, I somehow missed this response - it is quite bad for me because the corner is unsecure if I just atari due to minus point aji. The game would be quite hopeless for me if white secures left side now.

We need to remember to keep track of the score after every move :P. Also, are we both just using stones with circles on them because we just thought that the other person is doing it that way?

Was that sequence by him a bluff? If so, I imagine his actual hidden move was a threat to cut my bottom-left keima, but if he didn't play there I don't want to waste a move reinforcing there. I'll solidify this top-left and make it hard for him to get enough points.

Hehe, yeah, I was just going to fix the score this turn - I forgot after the hidden move.

I think I should be able to catch a base stone - I would still be behind, but feels playable if that happens.
