Just keep asking that question...43 more times.

Or look at the member list ;)

The quantity of my posts is largely due to feature testing this time (as opposed to post addiction)... I swear!

Sure, sure. We all believe you...*cough*. ;)

Thanks for all the work you've done so far, I think the post count can be considered a small bonus. ;)

Edit - Oh, Joaz. Did you just recommend I go ahead and start spamming to check out the different ranks? If you say so... :P

Is there a newer thread about this topic somewhere? Several existing ranks don't appear here.

I'm not sure what you mean by existing ranks not appearing.
Indeed - prior to this post - it is not clear how a non-admin could even know what the existing ranks are, except by seeing them.

Anyway, to clear up the issue: The current ranks in use are in the first column below, and the number of posts to attain that rank is in the second column.

Code: Select all

Beginner          0
Dies in gote     20
Dies with sente  70
Lives with ko   125
Lives in gote   300
Lives in sente  675
Gosei          1200
Oza            2000
Tengen         3600
Judan          4400
Honinbo        7000
Meijin        11000
Kisei         17000

I think another row needs to be added:

Code: Select all

Goseigen      25000

A user's go playing rank (actually displayed as "Rank: something") are optional in a user's profile settings. Not all users chose to display theirs.
But forum rankings (shown above the user's avatar; which is the actual topic of this thread) is a pseudo title associated to a user based on their number of posts on the forum. Its changed since the start of this thread.

Ranks which I had observed, were not mentioned in this thread before, but there were others that are not currently in use.
Anyway, to clear up the issue: The current ranks in use are in the first column below, and the number of posts to attain that rank is in the second column.

Code: Select all

Beginner          0

Honinbo        7000
Meijin        11000
Kisei         17000

Thank you.

No hurry. The top is still at Judan level.

Why is the Tengen band so narrow? Each next rank has a wider band than the previous rank except Tengen :)
