You can always let him play with the stones on the board, as soon as he reaches the age where he doesn't put them in his mouth. :P

Thanks for the wonderful report, POGO. :)

Also, here's a link for Go Child, that wms talked about.

I am terribly sorry for being off topic, but since basic education is at least tangentially the subject, and the mistake has been made too consistently here, please let me point out:

In english, the plural of words is never formed with an apostrophe.

It is "seeds", "months", "stones", "basics", "problems", "actions", "toys", "nitpickers".

And as English is no my primary language, i call haxs.

allthough i am getting my son on kgs tonight so anyone wishing to see the game look up Minipogo on kgs in five mins

Edit game is done.
sgf on first post and here

he did good for his first time. the last few days i have been teaching him more about watching his groups.
some moves were good some were to slow. but i think he did good.

I also don't think he knew(my son) the bottom black group was pretty much killed to.
as i just asked him and he said alive :/ so i showed him it was dead by all accounts

He's playing pretty well! :)

But shouldn't he be playing mostly 9x9?

Wonderful! 16 months and learning the rules. I played with my 2,5 years old daughter a couple of times and she looked very interested as well (see my avatar taken after her second birthday party at home).
But I never tried to teach her the rules because I found it too early. I will try this evening if she is in good mood :)

I am sure you already thought of it but I will feel bad if I don't write this: Please be very carefull that he doesn't try to swallow stones, it can be indeed dangerous.

Well, inspired by the thread, I thought I'd try my two youngest.

Hayden (14 months) thought it was awesome, and after swapping stones between boards a bit tried to make the biggest pile possible on the board:

Kylie, 32 months, I decided to see if she could handle the idea of capturing. I was pretty stunned - It took less than a minute for her to grasp it, and another minute to grasp capturing more than 1 stone by herself. She's just spend the last 25 minutes making groups and capturing them, so I thought I'd show one of the first ones she did:

Wow! Given that he's only 16 months old that's pretty (no - completely) amazing. Poor guy who got wiped out by someone who can't type yet

edit: My little girl's doing the same sort of thing as topazg's (she's 33 months).
