As other folks who prefer Canadian have stated, having the bulk of time allows the luxery of time banking. At first glance it seems more arduous - 30 seconds per move as opposed to 40 seconds per move. But the reality is that many moves, particularly late in the game, will turn out to be instant moves. 3 or 4 of them and suddenly you have 5 minutes to make 6 moves.

I guarantee that any slow player who has the slightest comprehension will prefer the "less" time of 10 in 5 minutes to the 40 second periods.

I am not complaining, I think this byo yomi would be fine if the basic time was shorter, but at 40 minutes, this byo yomi will produce some slow games.

Does this mean that the pairings will be redone? (I first thought of saying "players will be repaired", but it would have looked somewhat funny ).

My both KGS accounts are now 7k, should it make any difference to anything.

Still, either way, to win the tournament is going to require not losing ever, so you have to have your two losses at some point - I suppose it doesn't make too much difference.

Li Kao, you would be playing Aphelion in the first round. If you object to this as he is a 6k like yourself, please can you say and I will find an alternative Group 2 player to swap you with!

I'm not in either affected group, but at this point I think we should just get on with the tournament. It's no tragedy if someone's seeding is off by one stone or something.

I've got no problem with the current seedings - as long as Li Kao is okay with them.
