Neither a request nor an offer, just a big thumbs up for topazg and his pedagogy. He's without a doubt one of the best teachers out there. Anyone lucky enough to be one of his students knows what I'm talking about.

That would be a good idea.

The KGS teaching ladder is just a room; it would be nice to have something more formal. I'd be glad to teach DDKs.

How about the Go Teaching Ladder?

http://gtl.xmp.net/

They have hundreds of members, including several very strong players. No need to reinvent the wheel :)

True in a technical sense, but false when one considers social aspects. L19 players have stronger ties to each other.

Also, is the gtl intended for real time reviews? That's what I thought people were proposing.

True, the GTL is for offline reviews, not for teaching games.

Yes, for me, an ideal L19 teaching ladder would be teaching games with review, not offline reviews. (Nothing against the GTL, though; it is a good thing.)

I don't get it. I was sure it was exactly the KTL objective.

Yes, but an L19 ladder could provide more organization. As it stands now, the KTL room is just whoever's there whenever. If we set up a ladder, we could, perhaps, organize things with lists of those involved, who teaches whom, etc. It would also show all those interested in teaching and being taught, allowing people to contact each other to set up games, rather than just hope someone is in the KTL room.

It is funny that the topic is organisation of a ladder system although even the first of these teaching games isn't played yet.

it should be real time teaching. teaching games and reviews or online game reviews. or some kind of lectures.

Well, the idea of organizing something would mean that teachers and students could sign up, and could therefore contact each other to set up games. Don't you think that's a good thing? Because otherwise, it'd just be people sending PMs to each other based on the few people who have posted in this thread. I, for one, would like to know who's teaching and would be happy to add my name to the list of teachers. A nice list would make things really easy. And, if needed, the number of games as teacher and/or student could be added to the list.

I think it's a good idea Kirk. Any ideas on how to organize it?

@ Topazg - I've lost 18 of my last 20 games and am considering a brain transplant. I think my main problem is one of attitude. My attitude is: "chances are good that at a critical juncture in the game, I will play a move that I will instantly regret." Probably a teaching game won't cure me of this, so I might not be the best candidate, but I'd like one nonetheless.
