This is truly well said. I did not have many posts on GD.com forums either, but I agree a lot with this idea. I would definitely love to see online forums related to go discussions such as this one, stick around for more than a couple of years.

Actually, considering that I was only a member of the GD community for a couple of months, I rather enjoy the equalizing effect of starting a new site

I also don't mind getting used to a new interface, although it would be nice if it were the same as the old interface. I'm thrilled to hear that a lot of the history of old threads might be following from Go Discussions so we have all that good stuff to refer to.

But I am the only one who is sad to go from having well over 1,000 posts to having fewer than 10?

Yes. I'm shallow :-)

Am I alone?

Terri

Not sure if you're alone, Terri, but look at it like that:
At some point this forum will fold too, and some other will pop up and you'll start from Zero again. You'll be lucky if you get an account with the same name, even (I consider this to be a major blessing in this whole 'move'.)

So don't get hung up on the number of posts, this means nothing. Its not the numbers but the people that count.
Chances are, the more posts you have, the lower their quality. Examples abound, me being one of them.

So cheer up, perk up your ears, and start posting like crazy! ;)
