Oh, that's good to know. I have disabled UAC, that's probably why I'm not affected.

Now this is odd- my OS can see NGFs from Tygem but not Wbaduk!

are you sure they really have the same file extension? and that they are not flagged as "hidden" files?

There is nothing special about NGF files (or ngf for that matter).

But there is something special about where they are stored if you are using Vista or Win 7. Microsoft has decided that applications that run as a normal user should not have write access to C:\Program Files\... A wise decision. But older software like Wbaduk and many more are designed to write to that location. In order to not break those applications Microsoft has exercised some voodoo and redirected those applications to the user's home directory. In Wbaduk's case, the application thinks it reads and writes to C:\Program Files\... but in reality the files end up in C:\Users\<YourName>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\WBaduk\Gibo.

I don't know about the Tygem client but perhaps those files can be found somewhere under C:\Users\<YourName>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore as well. Where do the client say it saves them?

In order to write to C:\Program Files\... an application needs to have administrative privileges. This is usually prompted for when you start the application. But if it doesn't, it's run as a regular user and the above redirection to the user's home directory kicks in.

Where are my Wbaduk games going? This time, literally! They have all suddenly disappeared! I am sure that I didn't do anything with them, and my computer is operating fine otherwise. Has anyone else experienced this issue?

Oh, I did do it. Just reread CarlJung's last post... I believe I deleted this AppData file... permanently. I thought it was a residual file from a previous AppLocale installation when I deleted it. Should there be any other adverse side effects?
