well... in the last official communication from IMSA
"We have negotiated very good rates with some hotels of every category downtown Lille, within walking distance from the Congress Centre
All the hotels are not more than 10’ walk from the Lille Grand Palais.
Each participant in the event can now book its hotel room."
so come and play.. if you can afford it

The problem there is, we have no idea about the dates of the competition.
The EGF is organising the Go, not the IGF. So hopefully they will provide details soon...

There's a meeting of the IGF next week at which the EGF are submitting some proposals, so we can expect some announcements soon after that.

I thought that the IGF had delegated the running of the event to the EGF.

The rules as outlined in the attached documents indicate that players should be nominated by the Go federation to which they belong. There is no stated rule about citizenship or residency. Is there a rule that players must be either a citizen and/or a resident in the country that nominates them? Or is that up to the nominating country to decide?
Edit: the EGF have confirmed that citizenship is required.

Right. WMSG is modeled after the Olympics. While WMSG does not yet have its own charter, the Olympic Charter requires that "an athlete be a national of the country they compete for".

If the earlier stated information is right, McMahon (not all participants have the same right to win), no professionals (some of the strongest players are prohibited) and extra youth tournament (not all participants in the overall event have the same right to win the same) contradict that. The first WMSG was pretty close to the Olympics - the second is not at all.
