Basic shape -- you want to get to the point where you don't need to read it, and just know it by sight.

Also, if you didn't read it out fully, then why say W cannot connect?

Because I thought W couldn't connect when I looked at it.

thank you, however, what would "scare" me from connecting, is (and maybe this is one of those things you hear around Go boards but isn't true) that when you connect you make the opponents stone stronger, IF your stone is not strong. I would be afraid to attack before building myself up.
