Re: EGC 2010
Yes It would be much better if the info was on the egf website.LovroKlc wrote:RobertJasiek wrote:See EGF GENERAL TOURNAMENT RULES §1.5.

And if there were more people in the rules commitee.
(or if there was a Tournaments rules and a go-rules comittee) and all that kind of stuff.

Re: EGC 2010
Although generally some up to date information is missing on the EGF webpage and some current rules information is rather found on my or Matti's pages, the EGF pages now do have some of the general tournament rulesets (but I have not checked whether they are copied correctly 1:1):

Re: EGC 2010
How to get from Tampere airport to the congress venue / Tampere city center by public transport? Where to find a timetable? When are the first and last connections?

Re: EGC 2010
Will we have any cups?
Cups are always welcome. I remember Kim Gyungrae, Korean 7d who got money for winning side event few years ago on EGC. He was very angry and said that he prefers cup to his 50 euro cash prize.
Last year in Holland we only had poor paper diplomas

Was he on PMS or something?breakfast wrote:He was very angry and said that he prefers cup to his 50 euro cash prize.
Or does he just get 'very angry' that often and for such trivial reasons?

Re: EGC 2010
I think the diplomas of 2009 have a nice paper and appearance. However, I tend to throw away both trophies and diplomas; it is not something I like to collect. Money is much better: One does not need to collect it to make good use of it.

Re: EGC 2010
Money is much better for you. Some people feel that money is rather ephemeral, whereas a trophy can be kept for posterity. It would be genuinely interesting to find out what the majority of the top players would choose - I suspected money, but now I am less sure.RobertJasiek wrote:I think the diplomas of 2009 have a nice paper and appearance. Re: EGC 2010
No, there were also cups, or more accurately statuettes (in two sizes):breakfast wrote: Last year in Holland we only had poor paper diplomas
Bronzed ones for first place: http://picasaweb.google.com/gocongress2 ... 9267062418
Smaller white ones for 2nd/3rd: http://picasaweb.google.com/gocongress2 ... 8505172322
(These are scale models of the famous Groningen statue Peerd van ome Loeks)
And there were cash prizes for 1st/2nd/3rd place in all side events as well.
Also I thought the paper diplomas were quite nice, individually color-printed on special paper and signed by the main organizer and president of the Dutch Go Association (Download and zoom in on the second picture linked above to see details).
