I find it amusing to think that if I suggest a sensible or clever move for a side, people immediately assume I'm on that one. When I suggest an equally sensible or clever move for the other side, people immediately will also assume I'm on that one. Strikes me as a hard way of getting to the truth to me

@Phelan: Everybody has, I think, assumed that there are 5 players on each team. But that was never explicitly stated, as best I can recall. Did you put 5 on each team?
I can't say. I balanced the teams as best I could, while trying not to give information away. I might have used other things than playing strength for balance. I'll talk about it when the game ends.
Right now, I'm going away for a tournament for the weekend, so I'll be on limited access. No need to stop the game for me, though.

I find this interesting as well. Of course, I'm assuming that people are simply assigning a team to players in order to make them nervous ... I mean, if I were to say that Joaz was on Team White there's a 50% chance I'm correct (unless there are more options than just Team Black or Team White).
If I make a guess at 6 or 7 people and state those guesses as solid fact, there's a good chance that one or two of those guesses are correct. How would those players feel if I was correct about their team? Would they immediately post something along the lines of "It's interesting that everyone thinks I'm black, when last move everyone thought I was white ..."? Would they write a long diatribe explaining the strategy? Maybe they'd stay silent and hope that people might forget them? I suppose it would depend on the player's personality.
Another thought, since we're trying to play the metagame to the fullest: Wouldn't it be highly amusing if Phelan decided that everyone was on one team? How would we know, so long as we played by the rules? We'd have to get to the point where there were only 3 players left to truly be able to tell, unless we outright told each other.
Go Team "Balanced Opening"!

Or would they think "If I post this, he'll assume I'm being defensive, which means I can make him think I'm on the team I'm not" etc. The meta-gaming can be taken to no end of amusing iterations
Reminds me so much of this scene:

With that in mind, I'm going back to G7.

This thread has lots of win. I'm sticking to my vote, though.

Okay, topaz is definitely on Black.

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

Does this mean eventually in this game someone's going to make a joke about a group being "mostly" dead?

Phelan is away, so I'll post this just so everyone knows where we are now.
