Since I had to calculate my age I guess I'm old enough not to care anymore.
Howhever apparently I'm 27 , I totaly forgot. :-)

I haven't noticed a difference in the way I feel though since I was 6 or so.
I'm still as kiddy as a schoolboy :D

at age of 30 and under your body is silent.
it will start to whisper after 30.
it will talk to you loud and clear after 40
i will guess that it will scream at you after 50. (I will let you know in 5 years)

body will say "I AM NOT YOUNG ANYMORE!!!"

At age 50 it will say: "Why did you eat so much junk food in last 20 years?"

I don’t understand. I’m 55 and I very seldom eat junk food, I even cook for myself.

I'm 28, and my knees have been at least whispering to me for four years, I'm afraid.

Are you one of the runners here? Because that will happen...

I'm almost 29 (couple weeks), and yet still play sports like I'm 18. That always works out in my favor, let me tell you.

A lapsed runner. I ran from age 6 to age 14 or so, played soccer for most of the same time, and played tennis from 14-16. For the rest of high school, college and a few years after, I ran very irregularly.

I'm 25.

A few things I have noticed in the last few years:

It gets harder to cut my toenails (sorry, not the nicest image)
It takes me at least 3 days to get over a hangover
I like my steak rare-to-medium instead of well-done
The urge to play go has become stronger
I cannot last until lunchtime without a cup of tea

Most of all, I am jealous about those who are younger than me! Especially those who are 4kyu at 15 years old (?!). I was doing nothing more intelligent than playing Pokémon Silver at 15...

I am 63, born in 1949. That makes me about the third oldest of those who have owned up on here. (Could be wrong, there are a lot of posts.) I look even older. :-|

How old do I feel? My literal-minded brain says it is impossible to answer, since I don't know how old the average 63-year-old feels; and what other reference is there?

One good thing about playing is that my arthritic pains and tinnitus disappear for the duration. But when my shaky hands can't cleanly pick up captured stones or my fading eyes can't clearly see the stones on the far side of the board, or my aging brain fails to recall a sequence I learnt only a month ago: then I feel the years even during play.

I don't feel too old at my local Go club because there are two members (who appear) older than me, and several in their 50s.
Also, few young players attend UK Go tournaments, and many of those that do seem to be the children of older players. It's nice that I don't feel out of place, but not so good for the future of the game here.

I tried teaching my children, but they were immune to the virus. Or, more likely, I am just a poor teacher. :-?

I'm 55.

As has been my custom since the start of L19, I'm bumping this thread on my birthday. ( OK, so I'm eleven days late. I'm a senior citizen now, dangit! I'm allowed to forget a few things! )

Also at this age, I'm entitled to be a grumpy old man.
:grumpy: :grumpy: :grumpy: :grumpy: :grumpy: :grumpy: :grumpy: :grumpy: :grumpy:

As Magicwand noted a few posts back, after you hit 50, you begin to notice that you are not young any more. What this means, functionally, is that you don't have the resiliency that you had previously.

Free advice from a grumpy old man to you younger guys out there - based partly on my experience, and partly on seeing my friends' fates:
1) Get some exercise.
2) Don't smoke.
3) Keep the weight proportionate.
4) Never, ever trust your doctor.
( Modern medicine is very competent, but it has developed its own priorities. Keeping you happy and healthy is about 3rd or 4th on the list. Liability seems to be the primary concern. Making money is second. In many cases, propping up their egos is third. So it is up to you to look out for your own interests.
To do so, you need knowledge. Learn a bit about the basics. There are web sites run by reputable clinics like Johns Hopkins and Mayo.
When you visit a doctor, think of it like visiting a pro: you already know the basics, but you go for advice on the really complex matters or the latest discoveries. )

I’m 55, too, but not for much longer.

And HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Health and Happiness to you!

Agree.

And I won't turn down free advice. Thanks Joaz. :)

Still 29 here (as noted above), but starting to close in that "big" 3-0. We'll see how that goes. At least I still have about 6 months of giving the wife crap about being old! (She's already 30 :P).

Bonobo, why is your avatar that of a chimpanzee and not a bonobo?

BTW, I am years older that I feel.

DrStraw, the being depicted in my avatar image is actually (uhm, supposed to be) a Bonobo. A friend of mine created it for me perhaps 15 years ago on my request, modeling from a few photos I showed her from the book “Bonobo, The Forgotten Ape” by Frans de Waal and Frans Lanting.

BTW, I am years older that I feel.
I currently oscillate between feeling 30 yrs older and 40 yrs younger than I am …
