Man, that was intense! I didn't post it last night, so here it is this morning: Kirby vs Marcus, Marcus wins, B+1.5.

A thoroughly enjoyable game, but it pushed me to my limit (and it still made the observers cringe, ). Anyone know a good way to gain at least 6 stones in strength before I go up against Tabemasu (who is, by our listed rankings, 10 stones stronger than I am)? Heh, if a 1d pushed me that hard, the 7d is going to have a field day with me.

I'm so impressed by Marcus, Actorios, Aph and Shaddy (who have all "risen to the challenge" when matched far above themselves.

Daniel_the_smith and I had our game which lead to Daniel's victory by around 40 points.
Congrats, Daniel, and good luck for your next game (and many thanks to freegame for his audio review following the game) !

Thanks for posting, that was a cool game to play through. Actorios, at least you went down nobly.

That was an awesome seki, and a truly enjoyable game. Thanks to both players, and congrats to Daniel.

8: Wrong way. The standard joseki gets you a nice wall to go with D3

18: Again, the choice of joseki ignores neighboring corners.

21: Ouch

23: Ouch

45: The wrong direction. Try Q8. Take 4th rank territory while chasing him toward your wall. Forcing white toward the center just encourages him to surround your center group.

Disagree. D3 is too far away. Black ends in sente and can nullify the wall.

As you can see here, when pros block the way you're proposing there's almost always a stone on or near D10. (Sorry, I'll try not to be obnoxious with stuff like this, but it's so easy to check now...)

Um, thank you for the comments, but you could have been clearer on who each comment was intended for.
