did anyone get together a meeting last week? I saw several people I already knew. Don't know that I met anyone new -- oh, that's not true, I did meet a couple of new folk, but not from a scheduled meeting.Jedo wrote:So, when should we do this?daniel_the_smith wrote:I will be there, and definitely think there should be an L19 meetup of some sort.
The 2013 congress will be my first year attending, so I can't speak to how fun or educational it is. But one of the things I like the most about Go is the friendly community. No one is going to think poorly of you, or think that you are to weak to come to the congress. I'm sure you'll have fun if you came, and hopefully make some friends that would make it more fun to come again next year!AKaios wrote:This actually sounds like it would be extremely educational, and fun! I can promise that your feeling (which is natural and we've all felt it) does not reflect what you will experience at Congress. A large part of the contingent at each Congress is new to Congress and even fairly new to go. The crowd is very welcoming.AKaios wrote:This actually sounds like it would be extremely educational, and fun! I just feel like I'm too much of a "noob" to be a part of something like this.
I echo aokun's sentiment. But in the unlikely event that you do run in to the odd-ball jerk/rude person, don't let it get to you. Such people are very much the exception.AKaios wrote:This actually sounds like it would be extremely educational, and fun! Case in point - last time I was at USGC (Santa Barbara) there was a booth running every day trying to recruit new players from people on site for other things who happened to be walking by.judicata wrote: There is no such thing as "too noob" for Go Congress.
